I am using Alexa Home nodes to turn things on or off. Usually ESP-based stuff mostly flashed with Tasmota. All of my devices are defined on https://alexa-node-red.bm.hardill.me.uk/devices

I have Alexa Auto in my car and I can tell Alexa to open or close my garage door, but "Alexa turn garage door on" or "off" just isn't cool.

If I define my device as a lock so that I could say "open" or "close", Alexa says that there is no skill to do that.

Designing a skill for Alexa is way beyond my skill level. Any tips would be appreciated. (Like, can I simulate an existing lock skill?)
