OS Red Hat Enterprise Linux release 9.4 (Plow)
Node-Red Version 4.0.8
Dashboard
 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex026/uploads/nodered/original/3X/5/b/5b442ac19e3eaae0619e21351d70782a72ef0897.png)

**Issue**
Can't set Group when Adding a spacer from layout

 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex026/uploads/nodered/original/3X/4/8/4831c2c1aca65358899df4ed9d8638603deac92e.png)

Spacer doesn't appear in the group I tried to add it to

Shows up as invalid in Config menu
 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex026/uploads/nodered/original/3X/4/9/4953b551e8ebd470f173c4822af2f144a158397b.png)

If I edit it here I can select the group and set it's dimensions

 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex026/uploads/nodered/original/3X/b/8/b883a9fb16e0e4c8c91e6a90d73037b585455a72.png)

And now its appears under layout as expected

 ![image](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex026/uploads/nodered/original/3X/d/6/d683bcb5c2981547ac2003b292e1753993f56e58.png)

This was definitely working in a previous release

Anyone else seeing this issue

regards Gerry

What version of node-red are you running?

There were changes in this area in latest node-red V4.0.8

It's not NR core, it's the v1.21.0 of Dashboard.

Will fix that

> \## Description
>
> In #1516, the prefix to use in input element identifiers has been replaced by \`node-config-input\`.
>
> Until now the layout treated \`ui-spacer\` as a normal node and edited it with \`RED.editor.edit()\` which uses the\`node-input\` prefix. This is why the input is no longer prepared (the selection is missing).
