The question is will you remember that in 9 months time, and after you upgrade it and it fails will you remember what you have to do to fix it?
this is true .. i had 2.0.4 on my windows machine and updated to 2.0.8 and the config file was wiped to defaults. I guess this is one of those problems that human intervention is needed
@BenSch make a backup of your config, keep your notes on the installation process and you can also bookmark some posts on this forum by clicking on the three dots and using the icon. that you can later access easily by clicking on your icon on the top right corner and selecting Bookmarks.
I posted earlier how to get round the problem on a Linux system (Debian based at least). For Windows the recommended solution is apparently to copy the installed file somewhere else and modify it there, then when mosquitto is run tell it to use that conf file.
