# Ded Node on Mac won't install pallets

After successfully installing Red-Node on my MacBook Pro it will not install any additional pallets like the Victron Pallets or eWeLink pallets returning this:

Hi @logic28

The error message shown includes instructions for what to do.

You need to run the command it says to fix permissions on files under `/Users/mac3/.npm`

Unfortunately running: sudo chown -R 501:20 "/Users/mac3/.npm" in the terminal does not seem to have any effect.

You can manually delete the folder `/Users/mac3/.npm/_cacache` (please double check I've not typo'd the path...) and that should fix things as well.

Or `npm cache clean --force`

/Users/mac3/.npm/\_cacache does not exist when I search for it 🤔

You may have to enable hidden files to see .npm. I am not sure about that on a mac though. Can you see the .npm folder? If so then what is in it?

Press **Command+Shift+Dot** in the Finder.

In a command window can you go into the /Users/mac3 and run  
`npm list`  
and post the result here. Please copy/paste rather than screenshot. If there is lots then just the first few lines will do.  
Also what does  
`ls -al`  
show?
