Hello
I use the twiter contrib to be able to send and receive public and private message qith nodered.
So, I have created the API on twitter.dev web site, and give the access in Read/Write and direct messages too

I can send public and private messages
I also receive my private messages, but there is a very long time (more than 1 or 2 minutes, sometime more) beetween the moment I send a message (with an other twitter account), and the moment I receive it in nodeRed.
When I use the nodeRed accound on my iPhone, the messages arrives instantly.

Is there any setting in the twitter in node so that the refresh period can be adjusted?

No. The node has to obey the rate limiting imposed by the Twitter API.
