# Flowfuse dashboard gauge: What does the third column in the segments do?

In the config for the flowfuse dashboard gauge widget the segments section looks like
What is the third column for (Label)? It doesn't appear to be documented, and changing it doesn't seem to have any effect.

It's mostly used for the "Tile" variant - it controls what renders in the middle of the tile as text - some users wanted static labels (with just the colour then showing good/bad) some wanted the value with a label fixed in corner of the gauge, etc.
Good chance I overlooked it also showing in the standard half and 3/4 gauges in the same way - thought not sure it has the same impact/effect.

Can it be updated using msg.ui\_control.segments? I am updating the help text for that.

In fact yes it can be updated, by including textType and text properties. I will add that to the help text, and also a description of what it does.
I can't see any effect of the field in gauge types other than Tile (in config or ui\_update).
