# Gauge - set the value to "-" if nothing has been injected yet?

Is it possible to change or add an option to set the gauge node value to "-" or something that indicates that the value is not minimum if nothing has been injected into the node yet?

Configure an inject node that sends the payload with the string `-`, and set to inject once at startup.

I already did. The minimum value is displayed for a moment, then "-".  
It would be more correct if this was the default setting, as it can lead to misinterpretation of the displayed value.

You could submit an feature request issue on the [dashboard's github page](https://github.com/FlowFuse/node-red-dashboard/issues).
