How long is a piece of string?

It is impossible to answer your question unless you define what type of project. A professional project could be on anything from a Pi Zero to a supercomputer.

What is a '20 Energy Metre'?

What is professional about it?

To calculate energy I don't think you need node-red at all. Something like a Wemos D1 Mini or an Arduino would do the job.
