Sorry you need to provide more information, is this about node-red ?
If yes, what does your flow look like, debug node outputs etc.

I am not aware of a "grove lcdrgb" but looked it up.

Documentation describes:

```auto
GrovePi LcdRGB Output Node
Sends data to GrovePi LcdRGB I2C-Device.
The msg.payload should have separate keys. If rgb is not set, the information will be the once configured with the node itself.
    text: <the lcd text>,
    rgb: [255,0,0]
```

In the inject node you could set it to `json`:

```auto
{"text":"text on the lcd","rgb":[255,0,0]}
```

Is it also possible to make this into a javascript function?

Sure, or use a change node.

I found this: [How to use oled node](https://discourse.nodered.org/t/how-to-use-oled-node/5423/2)

basically solved all my problems.

I am trying to get a sensor value on the "grove lcdrgb output"

GrovePi LcdRGB Output Node Sends data to GrovePi LcdRGB I2C-Device.

I have used a Inject node for text and RGB to set the color, this is working perfect

{"text":"text on the lcd","rgb":[255,0,0]}

I have Temperature data in msg. payload.temperature:number

I would like to add the value example 18 to GrovePi LcdRGB I2C-Device.

How can I get this done?

Instead of setting the value of `text` to a constant string, set it to the value of `msg.payload.temperature` using a **change** node or **function** node.

As you have provided no flow or stated where `msg.payload.temperature` comes from and have not stated what prefix or suffix text you want to display I cannot help more that that except to say as you are new to node-red, I recommend watching this playlist: [Node-RED Essentials](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyNBB9VCLmo1hyO-4fIZ08gqFcXBkHy-6). The videos are done by the developers of node-red. They're nice & short and to the point. You will understand a whole lot more in about 1 hour. A small investment for a lot of gain.

As this thread is 2 years old and bmeester hasnt been online for over 1 year, it is unlikely he will respond - I am closing it.

If you still have issues, start a new thread.
