My Node Red flow spontaneously stopped running due to the httrequest node disappearing! As it is a core node, I understand that a repair would necessitate re-installing Node Red. Since the Flow is on a Raspberry Pi 2b which may no longer be supported (or won't be soon), I am concerned that the default bash to re-install Node Red may not work. I also use Node Red on a raspberry pi Zero. The rpis are currently running Node.js v 20.19.1. So my query is it safe to use the current bash to re-install Node Red to "repair" the missing httpreqest node, and will there be a way to keep using Node Red on these devices when they require replacement microsd cards.

Hi,

no idea why a core node would disappear, any more info on what may have caused it, or the circumstances around that ?

Obviously make sure you back up your flows before you re-install or do anything drastic.

The latest script will work on a Pi2 and Pi0 - but will only install nodejs v22 as that is the latest/last version with armv6 processor support. You also need to be using at least PiOS bookworm or trixie (the latest) - it won't work on bullseye or buster.

In theory Node-RED requires nodejs v24 - but currently v5 still works on v22 so is ok at present - but over time some v24 (and later) features may creep in at which point it would stop working - but you can specify the Node-RED version on the install command line also so you should be able to keep them working - albeit without latest features (or security).

Did you mean that it won't work on bookworm?

OK so I bit the bullet and...
Although the node red documentation says `if it detects Node.js is already installed, it will ensure it is at least v20. If nothing is found it will install the Node.js v22 LTS release using the NodeSource package.` The bash in fact tries to install v24, so had to add ` --node22` to the bash. Now running Node Red 5.0.7, and to my relief all my flows were still present and now functioning without even needing to import the backed-up flows. Which folders on the rpi should I back-up to ensure that I can still use Node Red on the rpi 2B when Node22 is not even an option. As to why the http request node disappeared while the program was running I have no idea.

Where are you seeing that? When I run the command I see

```auto
bash <(curl -sL https://github.com/node-red/linux-installers/releases/latest/download/install-update-nodered-deb)
Node-RED update script for : ...
This script checks if Node.js is installed, and will try to install
Node.js 24 if it is not found.
When Node 22 is no longer an option you will need either to backup the whole SD card so you can keep it alive as-is, ant try to upgrade, Or move to some other hardware, in which case you would need your user .node-red directory ( but not the node\_modules directory within it)
