# I want to modify the name on the node in the left panel

I want to modify the name on the node in the left panel. What should I do? I tried to find it in node\_modules and found the default node storage position.

I assume you mean the Palette? The list of possible usable nodes.

If so, renaming them is not a good idea. The names are set by the author. If you try to change them in the source code, not only will that get reset if you ever install an updated version, it is quite possible that you will break your Node-RED installation.
