# Installation locally on Win10 fails

Hey

I am trying to install nodeRed on my Win10 Lap, but I get errors when installing.

To the details:

Version of node.js and npm:

_PS C:\Users\das\_o\> node --version; npm --version_  
_v16.17.1_  
_8.15.0_

The installation of NodeRed returns the following:

_PS C:\Users\das\_o\> npm install -g --unsafe-perm node-red_

_changed 292 packages, and audited 293 packages in 15s_

_38 packages are looking for funding_

- run `npm fund` for details\*

_5 vulnerabilities (4 low, 1 moderate)_

_To address issues that do not require attention, run:_

- npm audit fix\*

_To address all issues (including breaking changes), run:_

- npm audit fix --force\*

_Run `npm audit` for details._

The command  
_npm audit fix --force_

didn´t solve the problem.

Thanks for ideas to solve my problem.

What makes you think it failed?

dont run that unless you know what you are doing - it can break things.

  

Follow the instructions, restart your computer (so that paths are updated), enter `node-red` into a `cmd` terminal.

Hey Steve-Mcl

entering node -red in cmd terminal or powershell will return:

C:\Users\das\_o\>node -red  
node: bad option: -red
