Continuing the discussion from [Manage palette upgrade notifications](https://discourse.nodered.org/t/manage-palette-upgrade-notifications/46910):

Has anything changed regarding this matter? Having some sort of notification when an update is avail able would be really useful.

You could create a flow like:

 ![SCR-20221009-nm4](https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/flex026/uploads/nodered/original/3X/f/d/fd0f4c4c6ee5d06e40ecb9f0342be65b0651eca7.png)

command used:

```auto
/usr/bin/npm outdated --json --prefix /your-node-red-path/

```

Not sure if this would work from a docker container.
