# Locking my pieces in place?

I'm working on my dashboard layout right now. There is a little lock logo in the upper right corner. It says locked.

But when I redeploy, my stuff gets moved around all the time.  
Is there a way to keep my stuff from moving around?

Which version of Dashboars are you using? Could you share a screenshot of the "lock" icon? Not sure I know where you are referring to?

I think @nearbyatom is using the original dashboard and they are referring to the layout editor.

eg

The lock indicates that the widget size is specified eg 2x1 not "Auto".

The layout editor does have a tendency to mess with your layouts and it's not easy to control.  
Try to set the size of all widgets and arrange them so they fully occupy the group width.  
If the dashboard has unwanted "spacer" nodes, delete them all.  
Warning spacers multiply like tribbles. You may need to delete hundreds of them, one by one.
