# New node always Function 1

Hi,  
I'm not sure but from the v 4.0.8 when I create a new node function the number displayed is always 1.

It's just my problem?

Hi @Giamma

This was a change made in 4.0.8 based on community feedback.

Previously, it would find the node with the highest number and use that +1 as the number of the next node.

The feedback was this was not desirable behaviour - and that it should use the first available number.

I can see merits in both behaviours; I marginally prefer the old behaviour, but the feedback was consistent enough to change it to how it is now.

If you create another one, leaving the original with that number, then it will be a different number.
