When I increase the width to 50, several icons and buttons do not work.

Are you trying to make a group that is the whole size of the screen ?
I don't think you want to have such large groups, normally a group would have 1 or 2 related widgets in it. This allows the the groups to automatically arrange to fit the screen size.
