# Node-red installed http://localhost:1880/ Cannot GET

The issue is that the OP has stated in the thread that 127.0.0.1 doesn't work

They said (as you've highlighted) that 192.168.?.? works

Therefore your idea of checking that the hosts file maps localhost to 127.0.0.1 is mute

Unless I am even MORE STUPID than I know I already am:

The THREAD TOPIC IS:

# Node-red installed [http://localhost:1880/](http://localhost:1880/) Cannot GET

Which is NOT the same as 127.0.0.1 if the `hosts` file is corrupt.  
And as that was not stated in the original post, and the solution was that using the IP worked, I posted what I saw as a POSSIBLE cause.

aah - I see now where the confusion arises

I think the whole thread needs reading in order to get the whole picture of what works and what doesn't 🙂

I suggested something in passing.

DAYS later I saw it was SOLVED.

I looked and read that 127.0.0.1 was marked as the SOLUTION.

So I then replied to that, in passing.

Maybe in future I just won't post at all as it seems I am unable to read or help anyone.

That's the bit that you might be misreading - 192.168.x.y is marked as the solution - not 127.0.0.1

# Which only re-enforces the fact I can't read.

I'm outa here.

I really have more constructive things to do with my life.  
Or I guess some would argue more DESTRUCTIVE things.
