You do not miss anything, Dropbox have removed the possibility to get longlived tokens. So it does not work I am afraid.
To be clear, I'm not the author or maintainer of the Dropbox node, and didn't write the instructions.
The Dropbox node 'maintainers' are the node-RED team, as it's part of their node-red-web-nodes collection.
I am due back home this evening, and will take a look if there is anything I can do, but it may be above my pay grade
