# \[Node-Red-NodeGen\] Global Installation fails

Hi,
I am trying to install Node-Red-NodeGen but it throws the following error:

I am a Node-Red newbie. There are two questions:
1. Why is it failing and what can I do. Without parameter -g it installs but I get an access error later when I try to run "npm link"
2. How can I update mkdirp: "npm WARN deprecated mkdirp@0.5.1:..."?
