# Not getting anywhere with update of NR / Dashboard. My views

(not liking doing this, but from other suggestions.)
Folks, I am trying to get _up to speed_ with the latest/greatest NR and Dashboard.
For starters:
Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
NR:
```auto
node-red --version
Node-RED v4.0.9
Node.js v20.19.0
Linux 5.15.0-135-generic x64 LE
```
So it is pretty well up to date.
Opening/loading any of the new DB-2 nodes and `deploying` I get NOTHING on the screen that is useable.
Compared to the ease of using the original one (putting my mistakes aside - and there were quite a lot of them) this is painful to use.
It seems the _drag, drop and use_ days are long gone.
You need to be a rocket scientist to use it.
There seems to be a lot of things not explained/declared and all the things I am watching do not help me get mine working.
Yes, I am _an idiot looking for their village (village idiot)_ but the severity of the gap between what I know and what I need to know defies my capacity to understand.
Where are these invisible elephants I am missing?

This isn't very helpful.
When faced with an issue (1 issue), ask about that and you will get answers.
If your concern is real, we can address it. If it is documentation issue, we can address it. If you have just made a mistake we can support you.
With zero information we can do nothing for you.

Slight exaggeration. There is extensive online documentation and the process is almost identical to dashboard 1

Have you visited the online documentation? Have you tried any of the examples and live demos & accompanying flows?

I have been watching these tutorials and what they get/show is not what I'm getting.
I add the GUI nodes, DEPLOY and see nothing on the dashboard.
So there is a HUGE mismatch somewhere between what they have/are doing and my side.
I am not in a position to say there is a documentation problem as I may not be reading it correctly.
To me there is not an option I can take/use to resolve it because of what I don't know. (And I don't know I don't know it)
So it can't work.
Though:
They too are not exactly saying "THIS IS THE MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS" in their clips/notes.
But for me to point that out would be _the kettle calling the frying pan black_ and I feel it would not help anyone.
So I'm stuck.
As said, the older `dashboard` was much easier to install and use than this new one.
Should I post the flow?

Show me what you see.
What browser are you using? Is it up to date?
What URL do you access to go to dashboard? Did you click the "open dashboard" button on the dashboard side bar?

Dashboard 2 URL ends in `/dashboard` not `/ui`

That works/worked.
Ok, so stepping back.
Question:
Why isn't this better explained in the documents/clips?
_They_ cheat and use the `open dashboard` button - which is kind of fair enough.
But - surely - it should be clearly stated the new path.
I'll now slither back to learning how to use the new buttons.

The old `dashboard` should (maybe) be prevented from trying to show the new one too.

Not understanding the meaning there.
Sorry, could you elaborate on what you mean?
If the new one can't be displayed then it shouldn't be listed to be displayed in/by/on the old one.
I get it that NR (or the browser) can't dictate what the user enters.
But NR should have some control on what it offers up to the browser of what to be shown as pages.

Dashboard v1 should be at `127.0.0.1:1880/ui` (this is the URL in your pic above)
Dashboard v2 should be at `127.0.0.1:1880/dashboard`. There is no overlap between them.

Yes, ok, if you say so.

To display the newer style dashboards you have to be
`127.0.0.1:1880/dashboard`
and NOT
`127.0.0.1:1880/ui`
Why does the OLDER one offer me ......
Ok, bit more confusion.
~~The new one is `page1/group1`
On my _failed_ page it is `tab1/group1`
I'll have to do some digging this end.
(indulging me they are the same) my argument is: why have that option available?~~

Was going through the MANY tabs and hadn't completely cleaned one of them.
