# Raspberry Pi 3 USB camera for filming

Hi,  
Any ideas how I can let my usb camera film for a specific amount of seconds and then save it to a map on my Pi? I am now using USB camera node to take pictures but instead of pictures I want it to make a short video.

we had a [similar question](https://discourse.nodered.org/t/display-camera-ip-in-dashboard-and-store-video-in-raspberry/6349/20) some time ago. I did a lot of experiments with **ffmpeg (via exec node)**, as you can see in that discussion. Summarized: I wasn't able at the end to pipe the indivual images to ffmpeg…

Some weeks later I managed to pipe the images to ffmpeg, but it seems I have never posted that solution on this forum. If you want I can try to recover my solution ...
