The easiest way would be to have a timed (cron) bash script on the pi that runs at whatever frequency you want and then the NR script monitors the directory with the file watcher node and processes once it turns up.

Yes, I have done the same thing without NR years ago, used event drive powershell, to watch a directory, and then once a file shows up, the powershell script responded to the registered event. I have also used incron.d, on linux, to replicate changed isc-dhcp-server configuration files, so when the master server (source files) was changed, the downstream dhcp servers received updates.
