Hi,

I would like to send a message to an amazon alexa, e.g from an MQTT device that a sensor has been affected, e,g, a switch has changed, or a temperature has been reached. I can easily write a script to send arbitrary text messages, but how do I send them ? Do I need to make my own skill ?

Thanks for any help.

Andrew

you can use the routine node from this set of nodes to send speak commands to Alexa. [node-red-contrib-alexa-remote2-applestrudel (node) - Node-RED](https://flows.nodered.org/node/node-red-contrib-alexa-remote2-applestrudel)

I recommend you have a read through this thread, and related.

I used [BluePrints](https://blueprints.amazon.co.uk/home) to create a Q&A skill called 'Give me a status report' then linked that in the flow below. I've arranged for various devices around my home to report their status to a database that is accessed from the flow and sent to the appropriate Alexa device. Here's an example of capturing feedback from Sonoff-S20 switches and writing the status to a dB.

I learnt a lot from some community members there and now have Alexa tell me, depending where I am in the house, all the latest information I need to know.
