# Shelly outdoor plug arriving finally?

Hi folks,

**SPOILER ALERT!**

Last year I managed to switch most of my electronics stuff to a (nearly) fully Shelly-based setup. And I am very pleased with that.

However one of the use cases where I am still stuck is the lack of outdoor wifi plugs. I could try another brand, but the Shellies work fine and now I have a (rather) uniform way of working. So I don't want to start mixing again...

Today I found [this](https://csa-iot.org/csa_product/shelly-outdoor-plug-s-gen3/) page about a _ **Shelly Outdoor Plug S Gen3** _ certification (for the Connectivity Standards Alliance). There is no image available yet, but you can see it has been certified on 18-11-2024.

If you compare that with the indoor version of Plug S gen3 (see [here](https://csa-iot.org/csa_product/shelly-plug-s-mtr-gen3/)), that one has been certified on 15-07-2024 and was released on 15-09-2024 (i.e. exactly 2 months afterwards). So I really hope their outdoor plugs will be available soon... More specifically I hope they release it around 18-01-2025 😋

Although the outdoor plug is not available in their webshop yet, strangely enough I found it already in their product use cases (see [here](https://www.shelly.com/blogs/use-cases/outdoor-lighting-x-mas-lights)): to _ **control outdoor christmas lights** _. Which is indeed a very nice use case, but it will be for christmas 2025...
