Time for an update. I managed to make it work using the GPU Maybe not necessary but I decided to re-build ffmpeg from scratch to get the latest version and also to be sure it really was built with gpu support. I did set the gpu memory to 256, i.e. gpu_mem=256

Try first before compiling ffmpeg, it might have support for hardware H.264 encoder plugin already!

But I'm not sure it will improve with rtsp cameras
