you can set the `userDir` or `settings` file using the command line options as per the docs: [Running Node-RED locally : Node-RED](https://nodered.org/docs/getting-started/local#command-line-usage)

e.g

```auto
node-red -u e:/node-red
```

or

```auto
node-red -s e:/node-red/settings.js
```

Not if you create your own batch or PS file.

Are you running node-red as a service? or always manually starting it?

Or use PM2 to manage Node-RED. 🙂
