We use some of the Opto22 groovEPIC devices and one of the built-in gadgets in their groovView HMI is a trend chart that allows you to zoom and slide to get zoomed in views of the chart data.

[see screen recording here](https://photos.app.goo.gl/9hag2VDYaZrhHQf78)

Is there an easy way to replicate this kind of functionality with the charts in Dashboard v2?

that is just an `EChart` (example: [Examples - Apache ECharts](https://echarts.apache.org/examples/en/editor.html?c=grid-multiple))

We are (@BartButenaers is) in the process of adding eCharts to #dashboard but its some way off.

In the mean time, you can DIY it: [How to configure Echarts in Dashboard 2? - #4 by Steve-Mcl](https://discourse.nodered.org/t/how-to-configure-echarts-in-dashboard-2/87259/4)

Hi @Steve-Mcl,
I have added that feature last night (to my local ui chart node version): see [demo](https://github.com/FlowFuse/node-red-dashboard/issues/782#issuecomment-2649211421)

L♥ve it Bart. Glad you spotted that feature. There are tons more (like offering download/export etc)

@Steve-Mcl it's exciting to know that Dashboard is moving to ECharts... after looking at the link you shared it looks like all of the functionality I was looking for will come along with that transition.

Download/export would definitely be a great feature too!

Dear Bart, I hardly dare to ask, but do you think you could provide a minimally functional version (even if in alpha status)? It would be enough if one could simply feed the node with data (different topics) and the lines are plotted in different colors. Why I am asking is that I just have completely moved from DB1 and DB2. I am quite happy with it. Except for charts. It took me 2 days to understand why my whole Home automation system becomes unresponsive after a couple of hours. And this is due to some very simple temperature charts which even are not updated very frequently. The exact same charts never been an issue in DB1 btw. I would be very grateful if you could provide the most minimal solution possible (functional, no need for extra design stuff...). But let me also say that I have the greatest respect for the work you put into this community in your free time and I completely understand if this is a lower priority for you for the time being.
Regards from Berlin...

Hi @ceysa75
No problem at all. If you ask it that kind, how can I refuse...
My Frigate AI video surveillance seems now to be running quite stable, so I might have a look at the charts again.
But no SLA's or ETA's. Got the bad news last night that my dad - who is also my best mate - has cancer, which means my Node-RED time will again be reduced.
Will see what I can do for the charts. If I remind correctly, I need to implement basic dynamic updates. Because config changes are currently ignored.
Will keep you updated.

Dear Bart,

I am so very sorry about your father, and it makes me truly sad. I have experienced something similar with my own father. From the bottom of my heart, I wish you and your family the strength to get through this.

Here we are, talking about some charts that need to be plotted… Listen to me. Compared to this, none of it matters. Leave it be and take care of your best mate... Wish you all the best
