# Trouble installing node-red

Hi!

I am trying to install node-red locally following the directions on this site for Windows 10. Using current version of node-red and LTS node.js 12.22..1 X64 per the note-red web site.

Here is the warning and error messages I get when I try to start node-red - both from the normal powershell prompt and from the node.js prompt.

### From NODE.js prompt

Your flow credentials file is encrypted using a system-generated key.

If the system-generated key is lost for any reason, your credentials  
file will not be recoverable, you will have to delete it and re-enter  
your credentials.

## You should set your own key using the 'credentialSecret' option in your settings file. Node-RED will then re-encrypt your credentials file using your chosen key the next time you deploy a change.

Hello @dvenus,

Welcome to the forum!

Do you have a firewall activated during install? Maybe you should give it a try to deactivate the firewall and install again.

If the installation works you should check how to setup an exception for the node-red port.

Something to do with the way you installed it. Did you install for all users or just your `dvadmin.node-red` user? And did you install from an elevated command prompt or a standard one?
