# Use Echo Dot for NR voice commands?

is it possible to use an Echo Dot (5. Gen) as speech control for my Node Rede devices ?

There are many nodes for integrating with Alexa, from adding virtual devices and sending commands etc, at the node library. [Library - Node-RED](https://flows.nodered.org/search?term=alexa)
Whether they work with Gen 5 is something you will need to check by reading help text or trying them.

I would personally recommend starting off with @hardillb Alexa eco-system
[https://alexa-node-red.bm.hardill.me.uk/docs](https://alexa-node-red.bm.hardill.me.uk/docs)
as it's the most reliable one I use
If you need more flexibility then try out [node-red-contib-remote-applestrudel](https://flows.nodered.org/node/node-red-contrib-alexa-remote2-applestrudel) but be warned that it's unreliable at times

Or node-red-contrib-alexa-smart-home which appears to be a fork of hardill's node (also works with Google Home)
