# Where are the NodeRED core files on a Pi?

I have a separate Node-RED github download install that I mess around in when trying things out before issuing pull-requests which works fine

But I can't seem to find where the equivalent files are for the standard Node-RED install

Whereabouts are they?

to get back on-topic but then slightly off again....

Where are the files normally stashed on a windows machine?

I tried using search on whole c: drive but for some reason - it takes it several hours and then when I come back later - the search window has self-closed!

It depends how you installed it on Windows.

If you installed it as a global module, then `npm prefix -g` should give you the root path under which you should find `node_modules` directory that contains all of your global modules.
