My use of Node-RED at home is pretty varied, from my lighting management control system which consists of a database of light fittings, lighting zones, and light scenes all configurable from Dashboard, to interfacing with InfluxDB & Grafana for automated hot tub chemical readings, 3D printing integrations, funky addressable LED automations, custom heating and audio system integrations, and even a basement sump pump management system with alarm notifications. I love a good automation, that's why I'm here!
