Yes, you absolutely can. However, it can be somewhat dangerous without suitable precautions. Check out the security FAQ and related threads.
In my view, the easiest and most secure approach is to use one of the cloud-based solutions such as Cloudflare Zero Trust (CFZT). Using that, you create a secure link from your local installation to the Cloudflare secure services. External users connect to Cloudflare and it takes care of the secure connection.
CFZT has a generous free tier.
You should be able to find threads in the forum with information that will help you get going.
There are other approaches too depending on your actual needs.

Tailscale is another offering worth looking at. Very easy to set-up and use.

Tailscale and CFZT are two very different approaches to the issue.
Tailscale is a VPN solution, it creates a private network extended over the Internet. CFZT is largely a cloud application proxy solution though it can also be used to set up private networking too I think.
The approach you choose largely depends on your requirements. Whether you want external people to have access to a private, encrypted network or whether you want to take a more web-based approach.
