Custom node appearance and event handlers. Proof on concept: Inline Gauge

I created an editor inline gauge however there are some interface elements that are rendered underneath my canvas output, the mouse cursor changes to the move cursor when I mouse over however I can't click or drag on the node. In my opinion it would be a great feature to allow nodes to have custom display, ui and event handlers that can be done in a standard way.
