Disable interactive events for ui-table?

Been looking for an example of how to disable interactive events, keyboard and mouse, for a ui-table. Or should I just create a table via a ui-template?

I also want in due course to highlight each row of the table from a loop to show that each row is processed in turn. Seems like this would be easier with a ui-table versus a ui-template?
