For the mysql node, any way to cache the credentials?

For the mysql node, any way to cache the credentials in a safe manner? I have some deployment automation, that populates flows file and calls npm as needed. Unfortunately, nodes that cache credentials lose their cached id and password. Wondering if there is a way to avoid this?
