Is it possible to get a snapshot of all the messages currently moving through the system?
Not in the current version, no.
There are some features coming down the roadmap that would allow you write some custom code to do that, but it wouldn't be an out-of-the-box feature.

I dont know if this could be of any use .. but maybe you could wire a file out node to append the important msgs to a file ?
