The mstack looks interesting, but why would you spend £42 on it when you can buy a 7 inch tablet for £40?
They certainly look nice, a boon for those of us with no 3d-printers.
I'd have to say that programmability is patchy. They make a big deal of their own scratch-like programming and MicroPython support. But the former is buggy and limited (they don't even support all of their own components) and the latter is based on an old version of MicroPython.
However, the Arduino library support isn't too bad and there is a nice 3rd-party extension to that called M5ez which makes it easier to control the screen.
Well, apart from the fact that it is a nice, compact format with battery support, I would agree. I haven't purchased any of them at full price, only ever in their periodic sales.
