Hi everyone, I’ve recently developed and open-sourced a project called node-red-cluster - a full clustering solution for Node-RED, built around Redis/Valkey. It aims to make Node-RED horizontally scalable while keeping a familiar workflow for developers. What it provides Clustered storage - one …

IMHO, Scaling/HA doesn't primarily come from the programming language (even though Erlang has it "built-in by design"), but mainly from the architecture. I really appreciate Erlang and its great design, but it's not for everyone and this is demonstrated by the fact that despite being around for over…

[image] Siphion: zero message loss and immediate responses are required. That's what Kafka has been doing for about ten years now. Why would you want to replicate that? [image] Siphion: I don't appreciate its verbosity, heaviness A weird thing to be saying when you're adding Redis to …

Hello, thank you for the feedback. I would like to detail the architectural decisions we made, as they directly address the scaling and security concerns raised. First, I want to clarify the strategic separation of roles. Developers are responsible for their standard workflow: creating flows, addin…

Just to clarify: my previous message wasn't meant as criticism towards Erlang at all. I actually appreciate Erlang's design a lot. My comment about "zero message loss and immediate responses" was referring to the consumer side of Kafka, not Kafka itself. Kafka is excellent for durability and zero-l…

[image] gregorius: In the corporate world, VPNs are the responsibility of the IT department I was probably unclear here. My scenario I have in mind is a typical industrial company, let's say they produce and sell machines to customers around. Now they want to keep track how those machines beh…

[image] Siphion: My comment about "zero message loss and immediate responses" was referring to the consumer side of Kafka, yer but that's what kafka offers, it remembers the message a consumer has consumed and when the consumer comes back up, it can start receiving messages from there. At lea…

Hello, This is indeed a really great job that you have done. I've been using nodered in k8s with multiple replica, redis for caching, kakfa for messaging and postgres to store flows. It works very well but we didn't manage the ability to have only one editor to manage multiple nodered. On your so…

Hello Sullivan, Thanks for your feedback! :slightly_smiling_face: I read your message this morning and it made me think that it would indeed be really useful to see the cluster state from the admin and view debug messages from all workers. So I've just implemented a new Cluster tab in the admin ed…

Wow great new functionality :star_struck: Thanks for your reply. Did your lead manager allow to run some flow only in the admin (whitout running in other workers) for prototyping and debugging purpose? When you ask workers to reload flow did you reload all or you load only modified flows/nodes de…

Did your lead manager allow to run some flow only in the admin (whitout running in other workers) for prototyping and debugging purpose? Currently, there's no built-in mechanism to restrict flows to admin-only. I'm planning to expose a cluster API available in function nodes that would allow you…
