I tested a 2.7A servo, the voltage between signal wire and gnd is around 1V max. Measured at 0, 90 and 180 degree angle. With and without maximum load (20kg). So it wont damage the pi luckily!

Assuming you have got the PWM running, then the voltage is cycling up and down continuously with variable pulse width, so if you measure it with a voltmeter you just get the average. You would need to do it with an oscilloscope.

If it were going to die it would probably have expired by now. It will probably continue to live a long and healthy life.

So. my next task will be setting the servo at a certain angle when a certain temperature is reached. will keep this thread updated.
