Set a sub folder in a git repo to house NodeRed project

Hello,

Is it possible to have a subfolder that holds the NodeRed project in a git repo. I am hoping to use a mono repo for a larger home automation project. From the options that I have looked at it does not seem possible and just uses the root of the repo. Thanks
