What is pattern in node-red-contrib-binary

I am new to node-red... For converting an integer to binary I am installing node-red-contrib-binary it shows the pattern I have no idea about that pattern

Conversion 10200 into 0010 0111 1101 1000 help me to solve this

The info panel of the node shows where to find/use the patterns (as it uses node packet)

Ouch, some shocking typo's in that page that may confuse beginners. "world" instead of "word", "l16, b8" which should be "b16, b8".
