Hi, I am trying to find a stable reliable node for Alexa control as there has been many nodes for Alexa control over the years and is quite confusing. I have been using "node-red-contrib-alexa-remote2-applestrudel" as it seems to be maintained and sort of stable, although you still get the "not working again" post occasionally and recently I have to reauthenticate the account quite often with this node for some reasons.
I just found "node-red-contrib-amazon-echo 0.1.11", which seems just too good as it support the latest Amazon Echo devices and more interestingly;
NO Alexa Skills required.
NO cloud dependencies.
Has anyone tried it (or another stable reliable Alexa node), I do not want to install in my system yet as it may screw up with my current Alexa Applestrudal setup.
After installing with proxy I then used the initialise node to Refresh Cookie and copied that into the configuration box. Now running with cookie and seems OK for me, without needing reauthenticating, although the Event Activity node doesn't seem to work.
What's node-red-contrib-amazon-echo 0.1.11
got to offer? Any feedback from anyone there?
I use @hardillb node-red-contrib-alexa-home-skill for 90% of my Alexa needs.
I use the fact that something can be designated as as a light and I can send it numbers. I then interpret those numbers to do other things (like fast-forward my TV recordings)
The other 10% uses node-red-contrib-alexa-remote2-applestrudel which means that 90% of the stuff that I want to do works 99.9999% of the time
