I guess these days it's a given, but I find the RPi to be highly reliable. I have deployed a decent number over the years and to my knowledge none have ever failed, with the exception of a Pi Zero. It runs fine in a freezer but fails at room temp which would indicate a possible bad solder joint somewhere.
Performance/reliability per buck, can they be beaten?
Actually am involved in a project to move from LCSX controllers to Ultimate I/O.... Yeah... the tech is that old that we can't even move to PAC controllers...
Like you, I work with products that have had Opto22 Ultimate I/O conrollers running for 20+ years..
