Best / most stable OS and Hardware for NodeRed?

I guess these days it's a given, but I find the RPi to be highly reliable. I have deployed a decent number over the years and to my knowledge none have ever failed, with the exception of a Pi Zero. It runs fine in a freezer but fails at room temp which would indicate a possible bad solder joint somewhere.

Performance/reliability per buck, can they be beaten?

That's a really cool PLC !!! (OPTO Groov Epic) ... but really oversized for a home control.

Actually am involved in a project to move from LCSX controllers to Ultimate I/O.... Yeah... the tech is that old that we can't even move to PAC controllers...

Like you, I work with products that have had Opto22 Ultimate I/O conrollers running for 20+ years..

:lol We started with the Ultimate and moved to the R1, still have a smaller Rack here, although of no use for the R1's. Hope all goes well.
