If I set this node to 1x1 with no label and button size 1, it still makes a 1x2 card size. Is there some way to make it fit in a 1x1 card so there is no dead space?

This should work:
Pushed a fix on github (Version 0.1.5).
Not on npm as I have to test if I broke other things by this version.
You can install it from github
within your .node-reddirectory:
npm i Christian-Me/node-red-contrib-ui-iro-color-picker
