The key information you have not posted, which has been asked for numerous times, is the sequence of messages going into and out of the node, as seen in the debug pane.
People on the forum providing help are volunteers and you should try not to waste their time. When you want help, you should create a small flow, with hard coded input data, that recreates the issue.
When dealing with an issue of a contributed node, lookup the node in the flows tab here on the forum, then go to it's GitHub page and check out any issues that have been reported (both open and closed) and see when the node was last updated (this could tell you if it might have been abandoned)
When people ask you questions, answer ALL of them. In addition you should start off by providing
- the platform and OS you are running NR on
- the version of NR and node.js (you can find this in the NR startup log)
- if you are running in a Docker container or using Home Assistant, make that known
Remember, no one has to help you so do what they ask.
Your first point: Did the flow I posted not have hard coded input data or did it not recreate the issue ? I honestly though it was both of those things.
Your second point: the contributed node is probably not available on GitHub. I've checked in "Flows" and can't find it. Maybe you can as you probably know better ways to search for it.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Which contrib node is that? We have talked about several here.
When I import the first flow I see that you posted (entry #13 on this thread) this is what I see:
So my answer is 'No, there is no hard coded data just some missing nodes that I did not have installed.
Which node are you talking about?
The point of my previous post was to try and educate you as to the best way to get help. Provide information and answer the questions that are asked. That's all. I'll be leaving this thread at this point.
Please look at the flow I posted at post 23. Does this flow have the hard coded data inputs that you wanted ?
If not then let me know.
As you acknowledged in post #27 the flow in post #23 did not work because you were not setting topics on the messages.
I will try once again - build a simple example which does not work, add debug nodes set to Output Full Message, showing what messages are being sent to the node and what messages come out. Post that flow and show us what you see in the debug pane.
It is only polite to answer people's questions, as opposed to pointing out that, in your opinion, they should already know the answer.
Their style of thinking might be better suited to question and answer than analysing screen captures and flows.
Or they may have been confused by the multiple times you have changed contrib nodes or claimed to have solved it.
The thing to keep in mind is that you are the one with the problem, not the volunteers who have tried to advise you. There's nothing to stop them walking away.
I have not said that they should already know the answer.
What I am saying is this: Don't keep saying that questions haven't been answered or flows haven't been posted when they have.
If anyone doesn't have the time or the inclination to look at my flows (both of them) then they don't have to and can walk away as you correctly point out.
But they shouldn't keep saying I didn't post them. That's the kind of thing that made me stop responding to this thread. What would be the point of continuing to answer or posting them again ?
Just look at your language: "Claimed to have solved it".
I think this has got right off topic.
In post 34 you said
Which looks like a claim to have solved the problem.
Maybe I am mistaken that you claimed to have solved it.
Let's see...
I think I have sussed it!
my solution to make the AND gate
putting different words in the topic makes it work as expected!
I don't know how it works but it seems to once I made the topics different
It seems to be working fine
With this logic node that I am using now I have at least got it working partially correctly.
It's not about whether the problem is solved, it is about the word "claim" and the way it is used.
Language such as that and "you should try not to waste their (forum members) time" or even "wow, 67 posts and we still don't have a clear idea of the node you are using, the data you are passing to it or the output you are getting. I'm confused".
And you may have been able to answer some of your questions had you looked at my posts but if you don't have the time that's your choice but there is no need to get impatient with the noobs as none of this type of "questioning" will encourage people to engage with you. So I stopped responding to your "questions" and got help elsewhere.
But thanks anyway for your interest, and the flow is working pretty good at the moment but I would rather end this non-Node-red chat now if that's alright with you.
Hey ladies and gents, what is going on? I followed this topic because I thought it was interesting and about logic gates, but for some days it is more like Kindergarten.
And to me it is a blur by now what was said and not.
How about the OP states if he still needs help or not, probably starting with a fresh question as if the discussion just started.
Happy new week to you all.
I'm good thanks, all is working fine and thanks to this forum.
Happy new week to you too.
Had a little search on here and stumbled across another noob who couldn't get his (or her) head round the dissimilarity between logic and nodes and you treated him to the same kind of attitude. The exact same three members doing the exact same things back in Nov. 22.
Plus ca change, eh?
