If anyone is interested in presenting their ideas on why Node-RED is better than N8n, there is currently a discussion over at HN about N8n now having data tables ![]()
Defo, n8n has a completely higher level of abstraction than Node-RED and a completely different target audience. This however doesn't stop folks from comparing the two - simply because both tools use an visual approach to programming.
I was looking at the n8n commit history - it seems they have no package management as a lot of commits seem to be updates of nodes which are external to the core functionality. Hence a contributor list of 500+ folks. So another difference between NR & n8n is that there is gatekeeping as to what makes it into the system as a node.
I still don't know what happened over at n8n-land to cause this exodus. It seems that a license change made some people leave n8n. From the HN thread, it also seems that VC money is involved...
