N8n pull 180m Series-C on a 2.5B valuation

Hi There,

Over at HN there is a discussion around n8n latest C series investment round.

Looking at their pivot towards AI and the investor list, I would see this as a pump & dump aiming for a selling off to one of the AI companies that seem to be putting out their money fires with money.

Speaking of burning money, The Orb/KLF/K-Foundation once did that too.

Good luck to n8n.

omg! Why people need so much money??? Probably one of the big enterprise tech companies is their goal, like Salesforce. An n8n/node-red like tool would be useful for their agents feature.

Anybody wants to turn node-red into n8n and sell it to super rich guys for fun? Once i finish my framework to build node libraries I will do another project with node-red but i could help with this other project :+1:

Isn't that what FlowFuse is doing? Although they are definitely in for the long term, not like n8n.

It's a pity that n8n will most probably be subsumed into another company and then either placed in some recycling bin for startups or just dumped onto the nearest dumpster.

I wonder whether all the open source contributors will be given an ice cream for all their good work. Also an interesting model: open source contributions for shares in the company that benefits and gets sold off.

That seems to fit with their original trajectory that rapidly shifted towards a limited "free" version along with a comprehensive paid version.

There was a recent review by one of the big consultancies on the prospects for AI vendors indicating imminent consolidation and everyone is warning of an imminent bubble burst. So I expect they are pitching for some money before the big crash and hoping that they can cash out before it happens - typical tech bro's.

Although I would also offer another interpretation.

n8n are a german tech startup and 180m for a tech startup in german is extremely unusual. What gets the money here are marketing startups or B2C consumer products startups, not tech companies. Particularly not in the current climate.

They also got cash from NVIDIA so this money is designed to pay their compute costs. I doubt they have in-house compute, so they are paying AWS or Google or even Hetzner 5 to 6 figures a month.

So my theory is that their story to investors was that they are going big into AI and need much compute. Thus they are going to become the german AI company. Rebranding themselves as an AI company and receiving EU and german government monies since they are the big AI company from germany.

All their flows will become AI agentic workflows, the EU will rain monies down on them and they will be counting it all the way to the bank.

Germany finally has an AI company, the n8n investors have their exits and the tax payer foots the bill.

I wish Brazilian government invested on a true AI startup. The biggest AI companies in brazil are white labels. adapta.org is the biggest scam and they were able to convert a big number of business leads into opportunities. The Networking variable is so huge in brazil that creating a saas is almost impossible if you are not from a rich family

I wish I was an AI - would get better funding.

Maybe we are all AIs being trained by higher dimensionals beings  sometimes there are so much coincidences in my life that i think im an AI or maybe Im being spied

Something that once really made me wonder was when someone said to me: you know we're just shadows of four dimensional beings, much as our shadows are two dimensional entities of us. Extremely simple thought, extremely hard to disprove.

Then there is also Allegory of the cave - Wikipedia

You do know Roko's basilisk - Wikipedia - don't go down that rabbit hole ...

There is no way to disprove we're not living in a virtual reality game and when we sleep, our player is out of the game. On the other hand, I cannot disprove that I'm just procrastinating (gotta update my node packages for 4.1) and writing this.

I'm happy to stop at "I think, therefore I am".

I think, I forgot, I am old.
