Node 20 is getting long in the tooth, when will Node Red officially move on? Node is now up to what, 25 or 26 as current active? Don't recall what LTS is at.
Why 20, we use 22.
As a general policy, we don't change the Node.js version we build our latest tagged docker images with until a major version bump. Nothing prevents users from using more recent stable NodeJS versions if they want.
Node 20 is still in maintenance until May 2026.
Node-RED 5 will bump the Node.JS we use in the latest docker images to Node 24. That will be coming soon - more news on that to come later today at Node-RED Con ....
