I don't understand why the docker image is using version 16 of node. the recommendation is version 18 or highe
It was aligned to v16 in planning but delivered late.
Anyhow. Does the pg node work if you hard code the server settings instead of using env vars?
Even configuring the node with the values directly, it doesn't work

Do you have exactly the same set of nodes installed on the 3.1.0?
Could you list them out?
Tip: use the "system info" action too access installed nodes from in the node-red editor.
Ctrl-shift-p, system info.
If you are able to get to a command line inside the container, could you also do npm list pg from the .node-red user directory? If you can do this on both, you may spot version differences.
