The pixel height on screen of a 1x1 widget is specified in the theme settings.
It's width depends on the window size and the number of columns shown at that resolution as specified in the page settings.
It would help with laying out a dashboard, particularly elements within a template, if the current grid was visible behind the widgets.
This should be selectable, either in the page config or it's theme settings.
